A WARM WELCOME

Story

We've created a young enterprise team to work with current year sevens, identifying what information they would have liked before they started secondary school. Using this feedback, we have created a transition website with Frog to include: general information about the school; quizzes; podcasts eg. a day in the life of and a tour of the school. The site also includes forums to get to know your tutor group. Teachers get a sense of the personalities they are going to have in their classrooms in the new term, and student mentors monitor the site.

Impact

New year six students are familiar with the school environment before they join, meaning that first day at "big" school isn't as daunting. Teachers are familiar with the students' interests and have a head start on getting to know them, meaning.
